"Surely, Lord, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favor as with a shield." — Psalm 5:12
There are moments in life that you don't fully understand until years later. As I was reflecting recently, God brought back a memory of when my daughter, Azalea, was little. It happened more times than I could count.
We would be standing in line at a dollar store. She would see a small toy or a coloring book and quietly ask, "Mama, can I have this?" Sometimes the answer was simple. "Not today, girlie." Not because I didn't want to bless her, but because it wasn't in the budget, or because I wanted to teach her contentment. Then something unexpected would happen.
The stranger standing in front of us would overhear our conversation. They would smile. Without us asking...Without us hinting...Without us expecting...They would buy the item and hand it to Azalea before walking out the door. It wasn't just once. It happened at restaurants. It happened in stores. It happened at community events.
People would simply feel led to bless her. As a mother, I remember thinking, "Lord... why does this keep happening?" Now I know. It wasn't about the toy. It was never about the money. It was about God's favor.
Favor Isn't Luck
The world calls it coincidence. The Bible calls it favor. God's favor isn't random good fortune. It is His gracious hand resting upon His people.
Throughout Scripture we see ordinary men and women walking into extraordinary moments because God was with them. Joseph found favor in prison. Esther found favor before the king. Ruth found favor in Boaz's field. Mary found favor to carry the Savior.
None of them earned it. They simply walked with the God who gives it. Favor isn't something we chase. It is something that follows those who pursue the Lord.
The Overflow
I've learned something about God's Kingdom. Overflow isn't always measured by how much money is in your bank account.
Sometimes overflow looks like doors opening that no one can explain. Sometimes it's unexpected kindness from strangers. Sometimes it's protection you never knew you needed. Sometimes it's someone blessing your child because God placed compassion in their heart.
God often reminds us that He is our Provider through the hands of other people. That little toy from the dollar store was never really about the toy. It was God whispering, "I see you." "I'm taking care of your family." "Keep trusting Me."
We Forget Who We Are
One of the greatest tragedies isn't that God stops speaking. It's that we stop remembering. We have spiritual amnesia.
God tells us we are chosen. We forget. He calls us His children. We forget. He says we are fearfully and wonderfully made. We forget. He tells us we are more than conquerors. We forget. He reminds us that we are the light of the world. We forget. It's almost like spiritual Alzheimer's.
Not because God failed to remind us...But because the noise of life becomes louder than the voice of Scripture. The enemy doesn't always need to destroy your faith. Sometimes he only needs you to forget your identity. When you forget who your Father is, you begin living like an orphan instead of a son or daughter of the King.
Created in His Image
From the very beginning, God settled the question of our identity.
"So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them..." (Genesis 1:27)
Before the opinions...Before the labels...Before the disappointments...Before the world told us who we should become...God already declared who we are. Image bearers. His workmanship. His beloved. Royal sons and daughters.
When we remember whose we are, we begin to walk differently. We carry ourselves differently. We love differently. We forgive differently. We trust differently. Not because life becomes easier...But because we know who walks with us.
Legacy Over Hype
At KNg Dynasty, we believe legacy begins long before wealth, titles, or recognition. Legacy begins when a family remembers God.
It begins when children grow up watching parents trust the Lord. It begins when gratitude replaces entitlement. It begins when faith becomes the inheritance we leave behind. The greatest gift I could ever give my children isn't a successful business. It isn't money. It isn't influence. It's teaching them to recognize God's hand in both the big miracles and the small moments.
Because one day they'll realize, just as I did, that every unexpected blessing pointed back to the same faithful Father.
Final Thoughts
Looking back, I smile at those memories of little Azalea receiving gifts from complete strangers. Those moments weren't accidents. They were reminders. Reminders that God sees. God provides. God favors His children. God never forgets us.
The question is...Have we forgotten Him? Today, choose to remember. Remember who created you. Remember whose image you carry. Remember the promises written over your life.
And as you walk faithfully with Christ, don't be surprised when His favor shows up in unexpected places. Sometimes...It looks like a toy from the dollar store. Other times...It looks like a life transformed by the goodness of God.
Because favor isn't about what we receive. It's about the One who walks with us every step of the journey. Legacy Over Hype. Your Dynasty Awaits.
