What Does It Really Mean, And Why It Matters to Me
Before I ever designed a logo…
Before the dragon became a symbol…
Before KNg Dynasty had a name
I was just a girl trying to understand where I came from, and who I was called to become.
I didn’t realize then that symbols would guide me.
That identity could be carried in an image.
That heritage could sit inside a single mark.
But now I know:
Symbols aren’t just part of branding.
They are the pieces of your soul you place in front of the world.
What Symbolism Means to Me
To me, symbolism is meaning made visible.
It’s the way a single image can hold a whole story your upbringing, your battles, your culture, your faith, your values.
A symbol speaks for you when you’re quiet, when you’re unsure, when you’re still growing into the person you know you’re meant to be.When I created the KNg Dynasty dragon, I wasn’t choosing a mascot.
I was choosing an identity.
Something that could carry both sides of my heritage the Ng legacy and the fierceness of the Knauls family.
Two worlds, one flame.
That is what symbolism is: story wrapped in image.
Who Symbolism Touches
Symbolism shapes everyone connected to your brand, but it starts with the person designing it.
It started with me.
With memories of growing up between cultures.
With stories my family told about ancestors who overcame.
With seasons where I didn’t feel confident or powerful and needed a reminder that strength was already in me.
I made the dragon for people like me: people who have quietly fought battles, people who have culture stitched into their bones, people who carry fire even when they feel small.
And then something surprising happened.
People began to respond to it not because I explained it, but because they felt it.
A teenage girl at an event pointed at the logo and said:
“I don’t know what that dragon means…
but it makes me feel brave.”
That moment taught me something:
Your symbol doesn’t need permission to speak.
It speaks to who needs it.
Where Symbolism Lives in My Life
It lives everywhere now.
In my brand.
In my creative work.
In every KNg Dynasty blog banner, reel, and color palette.
In the confidence I’ve gained stepping into my calling.
But it also lives in personal places:
-
In the first time I saw my dragon printed on a shirt and almost cried.
-
In the moment my family said, “This feels like us.”
-
In the way my daughter, Azalea, looks at the logo like it’s something magical.
-
In the way my husband Montell supports the vision like it’s a kingdom we’re building together.
Symbolism isn’t just part of a brand strategy.
It becomes part of your home, your relationships, your legacy.
Why Symbolism Matters to My Identity
Because I wanted a brand that didn’t just look powerful
I wanted one that made people feel powerful.
I wanted a symbol that represented:
-
Cultural pride
-
Fierceness
-
Confidence
-
Royalty
-
Faith
-
Destiny
-
Heritage
-
Calling
Growing up, I saw how symbols spoke louder than words.
The cross on someone’s neck.
The jade pendant passed down through generations.
The old photographs of family ancestors.
The Chinese characters hanging on restaurant walls.
The colors used in traditional festivals.
These symbols didn’t just decorate life they carried identity.
And I wanted my brand to do the same.
I wanted KNg Dynasty to feel like home for anyone who needed a reminder that:
You come from something.
You carry something.
You are becoming something.
How Symbolism Shapes My Brand
I infuse meaning into everything.
Not because it’s “good branding,”
but because it’s my truth.
The dragon represents courage and heritage.
The gold represents royalty and honor.
The red represents fire and power.
The visual style represents the bridge between ancient culture and modern identity.
My storytelling makes it personal.
My visuals make it memorable.
My colors make it recognizable.
My purpose makes it sacred.
People wear the brand not just because it’s beautiful, but because it makes them feel seen.
One woman messaged me and said:
“When I wear your hoodie, I stand straighter.
It reminds me I’m building something not just surviving.”
That is the true power of symbolism.
It doesn’t just brand a business.
It shapes a person.
The Symbol and the Legacy
Symbols last longer than seasons.
They live longer than trends.
They outlive the people who create them.
Dynasties are built on symbols from ancient China to modern-day creatives like us.
For me, KNg Dynasty isn’t a brand.
It’s my offering.
My identity.
My heritage.
My future.
My daughter’s inheritance.
My story made visible.
The dragon is my reminder that I am called to rise, to lead, to build, to honor where I come from, and to step boldly into where I’m going.
And every person who encounters the brand gets to step into that same fire.
This is the power of symbolism.
Not just in branding but in becoming.
