Matthew 25:1–13
The parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25 is more than a story it is a mirror. It reflects our hearts, our priorities, and our readiness for the Bridegroom, Jesus Christ. The cry is clear: “Be ready.” Not just at the last hour, not just when life shakes us awake, but at every moment, in every season.
We Own Nothing, We Steward Everything
The truth is simple: you and I are owners of nothing. Our very breath is borrowed. Our days are gifts. Our lives are not possessions but assignments. We are stewards of our time, our talents, our hearts, and our walk with God. And every steward will one day give an account.
Faithful or unfaithful that is the measure. And when the Bridegroom comes, He will not wait for you to get ready. His coming may seem delayed, but delay is not denial. His arrival is certain, His timing perfect.
The Bridegroom Is Coming
Jesus is the Bridegroom. The wedding is the final celebration, the eternal union with Him. The delay we live in now is the age of the Church the season of grace, the open invitation. But the trumpet will sound. The shout will come: “Behold, the Bridegroom is coming!”
The question is not if He comes, but when. And the greater question is: Will you be ready?
Wise and Foolish
Five virgins were wise, five were foolish. The wise carried oil their faith was alive, their lamps burning. They stayed close to the Word, soaked in prayer, surrendered in obedience. They didn’t just profess Jesus; they lived Jesus.
The foolish thought they were fine. They had lamps but no oil form without fire, religion without relationship. They looked the part but weren’t surrendered. They posted verses, attended church occasionally, even called themselves Christians. But their hearts were far from God.
And when the Bridegroom came, it was too late. The door closed.
Oil Cannot Be Borrowed
Here is the sobering truth: your oil cannot be transferred. Your salvation is yours alone. Your mother cannot save you. Your pastor cannot save you. Sermons, podcasts, and Christian community cannot save you. Only a living, surrendered relationship with Jesus can save you.
You are accountable for your own walk. Your heart will be inspected. And once the door is shut, it will not reopen.
Living Ready
Everything in this life is temporary. Trials are temporary. Struggles are temporary. The only eternal thing is your soul and where it will spend forever.
So live with a consciousness that Christ is coming. Be faithful in every season, even in the waiting. Keep soaking yourself in the Word. Keep oil in your lamp through prayer, worship, surrender, and daily obedience.
The door is still open. Grace after grace is still offered. The cry is going out: Get right with God. Surrender your heart. Keep watch. Be ready to stay ready.
Because when the Bridegroom comes, there will be no more time to prepare. And His words to the foolish will echo: “Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.”
But for the faithful, the wise, the ready—the door opens to the wedding feast of the Lamb.
✨ Final Call: Run where God is calling you. Lay down your pride. Surrender your heart. Keep oil in your lamp. The Bridegroom is coming will you be ready?
